Nashville, TN (March 23, 2021) icon Mechanical, one of the region’s fastest-growing full-service design-build/design-assist mechanical contractors, has named industry veteran, Jason Dawkins as Director of Operations for the company’s Nashville office.

Dawkins brings over 25 years of construction and mechanical engineering expertise to the icon team, which includes executive management responsibilities for a variety of multi-million-dollar projects primarily throughout Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and New Mexico.

He most recently was an executive project manager and minority owner with Nashville Machine Company where he spent over 13 years in roles developing that organization’s project budgeting, billing, purchasing, and labor, as well as site coordination, design and estimating.

In his new role, Dawkins will be responsible for all aspects of project delivery, strategic planning, enhancing processes, and business development.

icon is headquartered in Granite City, IL and opened its Nashville office in 2018. Since that time, icon has been engaged in several high-profile projects throughout the area, including the Nashville Yards development. icon was recently selected as the design-assist mechanical contractor for the Albion in the Gulch project. The company differentiates itself by having the capacity to design, pre-fabricate (in-house), deliver, and install mechanical systems – an innovative and complete process proven to save time, money, and improve safety.

At Nashville Machine Company, Dawkins served as project manager on notable mechanical projects for BNA Airport Phase II Powerhouse; Opryland flood re-build, as well as multiple other projects at Opryland, including: renovation of over 3,500 rooms, Opryland Waterpark; and the Opryland cooling tower replacement — the single largest capacity cooling tower replacement in middle Tennessee. The replacement was accomplished while keeping Opryland fully operational with no loss of utility operation. Additional projects included, completing multiple initiatives for General Mills over several states. These efforts entailed skid design and fabrication distributed to many US and international sites; BNY-Mellon Data Center; UBS, and Vanderbilt University powerhouse coal conversion and chill water upgrade. Prior to Nashville Machine Company, Dawkins held sales/project management positions at Georgia-based, B&W Mechanical and MAXAIR where he was responsible for design build mechanical systems.

Dawkins earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech University).
