icon Mechanical, one of the midwest’s largest full-service design-build/design-assist mechanical contractors, has been named the winner of the St. Louis Council of Construction Consumers (SLCCC) award for Best Practices in Planning for Modularization.

The award recognizes construction industry providers displaying the best of the best practices as defined by the Construction Industry Institute (CII). A panel of independent consumers of construction and associate SLCCC members scored icon Mechanical highest in the modularization category for the firm’s efforts on the Pfizer BioPlace Project.

“We are honored to have been named the top contractor in the planning for modularization category,” said Jeff Rush, President of icon Mechanical. “We take great pride in our prefabrication and modularization. It’s what we do best and it’s certainly gratifying to receive this industry recognition for our efforts.”

icon Mechanical teamed with general contractor, Clayco Construction on the Pfizer project. Clayco took top honors in the Best Practices for Partnering category for their work on the Pfizer initiative.

“We are grateful to Clayco for allowing us the opportunity to team with them on this project and appreciate their support of our innovative approach,” Rush said. “icon Mechanical has a passion for thinking out of the box and finding a better, more effective way of reaching the end goal. We enter every undertaking with the owner’s best interest in mind. We study the project, identify the best approach, and then design, build, and install respective systems that provide for efficiencies in time and money.”

icon Mechanical’s innovative modularization approach resulted in their portion of the Pfizer BioPlace Project being completed three months early with a cost savings of $1M.
